Supplement explorer/stack builder - thing I made : Nootropics
Lots of great resources, but nothing that quite fit what I was looking for. So built a tool; learned a lot doing it, too. Example stack, modified Mr. Happy Stack, kryptklast version. Interested in what you think, and anything else that could be useful. I use the tool to take notes on stacks etc that I want to try but haven't gotten around to, then keep a list of links.
Makes it simple to go back and browse. Hope it's helpful to someone else too. My only suggestion would be to add a sort function to the two tables. More sorting ability makes a lot of sense Will add it to the list. Prices are harder because they'd require frequent updating, but would be pretty cool if there's a workable way to do it.
That's a good point. It might make more sense to just pull and average the data over once a month or once a quarter or something. Hopefully you could do it in a way that wouldn't require manually entering in the data every time. Great work though, I've already used this several times for research purposes and discovered some herbs I didn't know about.
Thank you for making this! Average price over time, or at a single date and then updated periodically, would make a lot of sense. I was trying first to learn a web framework and only second about supplements, ended up learning quite a bit just gathering the information.
Glad it's useful elsewhere! It will take some time to acquire the user submitted data, but some sort of "what can I make" feature. You load up what you have on hand, and it spits out a list of stacks that people have submitted. A good way to feature interactions and compliments, maybe something where you list everything you have and it shows effects and what might work well together?
I have supplements that I take for weightlifting, I just started getting into nootropics, and am finding that some of the things I have on hand are good for more than one thing, usually when I find that one thing works for the other it is completely by accident.
Many, but not all, of the summaries are from Examine Effects of supplements: Clicking on an effect left-hand side will filter the supplements by ones that are tagged with that effect. Green indicates up, blue indicates down, and the size of the edge shading indicates the amount. Kind of ugly, but works for now I guess. The search box in the supplements column searches the full text of the info box.
So you can type 'Niacin' and will get 'Vitamin B3'. This makes it useful to search for desired effects in the supplements column as well. Sharing, with stats you can see: Because it's a goo. Maybe coming sometime Mobile version - obviously not terribly useful on mobile currently.
More supplement information - always gathering and updating, though time is limited by job, kids, and life in general - ha. Markdown formatting - that comments text box is pretty bland, and adding an automatic markdown formatter could make it look better.
Not hard to do, but will probably need to play around to make it useful. Want to add to the discussion? Please don't ever let this die. I see you have a link to search on sites too. Maybe you could sort by average prices too?
